Psychological Testing
Dr. Rothschild provides comprehensive psychological evaluations for children from ages 2 to 16 to assess intellectual and academic strengths and differences, social-emotional functioning, and behavioral functioning. These evaluations may be used to clarify diagnosis or to identify developmental delays or other psychological and behavioral factors that impede learning or performance, and to make recommendations for educational planning and/or psychological treatment. Dr. Rothschild provides psychological evaluations for children with suspected autism spectrum disorder, ADHD, anxiety, depression, challenging behaviors, developmental delays, learning disabilities including dyslexia, and intellectual delays or giftedness.
Evaluations involve the following components:
Initial Clinical Interview/Intake (60-90 minutes)
Diagnostic interview with the child's caregiver to obtain complete health, developmental, and educational history
Psychological Testing
Direct behavioral observations and assessments of the child
Standardized cognitive/intellectual/achievement testing when appropriate
Rating scales completed by the child's caregiver(s), other familiar adults such as the child's teacher, and even the child when appropriate
Assessments may consist of 3-6 hours of testing and may be scheduled over multiple sessions
Review of Records and Consultation with Providers
Review of any past assessments as well as any relevant medical and school records
Consultation with current providers (e.g., therapists, teachers)
Scoring and Interpreting Results and Preparing the Report
Feedback Session (60-90 minutes)
This final conference will consist of reviewing and discussing the results and recommendations. Families will leave this session with an extensive and descriptive report.
We try to schedule this appointment approximately two weeks after completion of the testing appointments.
Consultation
Dr. Rothschild provides free consultation related to the evaluation for up to one year.
